Course Objectives
Verbalize the difference between Type A, Type B or Type E Facility.
Verbalize the staff training standards for orientation and annually while employed at an Assisted Living Facility.
Verbalize 5 of the 20 items that should be included on a resident assessment done on admission and annually.
Verbalize the 3 appropriate documents to submit to allow a resident to remain at the facility when a DHHS surveyor determines they are “inappropriately placed”.
Verbalize the standards of care when assisting residents with medication administration – Administration, supervision, or self-Administration.
Verbalize service standards related to food and nutritional services, i.e. timing of meals, menus, storage of food and food prep precautions.
Verbalize infection control service standards in relationship to resident or employee infection.
Verbalize service standards related to use of restraints: When they can be used, behavioral emergency, acceptable restraint hold and care after the use of restraints.
Verbalize the difference in activities provided from a “regular” ALF versus a Certified Alzheimer’s ALF, i.e. amount of activities, types of activities and role of activity director.
Verbalize service standards in preparing and implementing and the Assisted Living Facility emergency preparedness plan.
Course Description
This is an 8-hour class required for all New Managers to be completed within three months of hire. The target audience for this course are: Nurses, ALF Administrators, ALF Managers, New owners of ALF facilities, RN Case managers for ALF’s
