Basic Rigging Principles, Part 3: Rigging Equipment

Choosing the right rigging equipment is vital to the safety of your worksite. Take this course to learn about the types of rigging equipment, including slings, connectors and adjusters. This course is ideal for construction and general industry workers who may be involved in rigging activities as well as their supervisors.

 Recall four types of rigging equipment;

 Identify the characteristics of slings made with wire rope, chain, metal mesh and synthetic fiber;

 Identify types of hitches;

 Remember how to use and inspect different types of connectors, including hooks, shackles and eye bolts;

 Identify the purpose of adjusters, including turnbuckles;

 Recognize how capacity, angles and tension influence the selection of rigging equipment
