Course Objectives
By the end of the educational activity, the participant will be able to:

Identify the major goal of HIPAA. Identify 3 forms of advance directives for Texas.
Identify the largest diagnosis that affects ALF residents.
Identify 2 of the 4 largest physical risks in facility residents.
Identify 4 of 8 symptoms of depression in the elderly.
Identify 2 treatment options for depression in the older adult.
Identify the difference between social loneliness and emotional loneliness. Identify the definition of spirituality.
Course Description
This 12 hour course is designed to educate administrators on resident rights, provider rights and HIPAA privacy rights. This course also covers education of administrators on meeting residents’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs at the ALF.
